June is a great time to clean the yard and to get the landscaping all spruced back up. I also add a few other things to this list that the weather helps me achieve. It's the month that I deep clean my Laundry Room. I live in a townhouse. So my laundry room is basically a closet. But this a great time to purge old cleaners and wipe down cabinets. It is also a fantastic time to clean out that dryer vent with the nice weather!! Yes! I said it! Clean out that dryer Vent!!!

My June To-Do List

This is your chance to really get into your laundry room and get it the way you want. Purge, scrub, organize!! Let's Start!

  • Pull everything out of cabinets, shelves etc.

  • Wipe down all the cabinets and shelves.

  • Take everything off the walls.

  • Decide what to to keep and what to toss

  • Pull out Washer and Dryer (make sure you disconnect electrical/gas).

  • Disconnect the dryer vent and clean the inside portion of the unit and reattach (confirm secure reattachment)

  • Take high powered shop vacuum outside with extra long attachment and shove into the outside part of the vent to suck out the lint from the outside. (You will be amazed what you get out. I do this every year and it still amazes me with 1-2 people living in my home. And a peace of mind of fire safety)

  • Wipe down walls with damp mop head (make sure you hit the corners for cobwebs).

  • Wipe around all light switches and outlets ( I will soak the plates in warm water).

  • Wipe down all light fixtures and replace burnt out any lightbulbs.

  • Clean any windows, sills and tracks.

  • Vacuum floor and baseboards.

  • Mop floors.

  • Once the floors are dry - Push Washer & Dryer back in and reconnect.

Now the fun part!!

  • Reorganize your shelves and cabinets to better suit your every day uses.

  • Make sure your detergents are above the washer and the dryer supplies are above the dryer. Cleaning supplies are together. Things your children need to use are easily in reach. Things your husband uses are front and center. lol!!

The dollar tree has some fantastic organizational bins to help with small spaces. I had an awful laundry closet in a back hall and I was determined to make it functional. I went to our hardware store and found some spec cabinets for pretty cheap. My son painted them up and we made our laundry room into a room I don't mind opening the doors to anymore. Thank goodness I have a very patient son who love a good project as much as I do.
